Pintester Movement: Can Pam set nail polish?
Since I'm all fancy and full time at work now, I can't duck into the nail salon on a Tuesday afternoon for super quick mani/pedi anymore. It's a problem. Who wants to plan ahead, make an appointment on a freaking Saturday when I should be sleeping in, day drinking in the pool, and then taking a nap. Plus on Saturday you inevitably end up stuck between two ladies that just recognized each other from their kids soccer league. No thanks. Driving to work everyday and having to occasionally run errands is about all of the general public I can tolerate. So here I am slumming it and painting my own nails... then running into a doorway and completely fucking them up. I lead a glamorous life. Thanks to
Pintester and the
Pintester Movement 2.0, I braved one of the bazillion ways to set your home manicure on
Pinterest. This particular manicure setting trick is from
The Smelly Life.
The first step is to get comfortable, and put on a little music to get you in the mood.
Second, you're going to need nail polish. I used Chip Skip by OPI as my base as usual, a coral color, and Sally Hansen no chip top coat.
I painted my nails with the base and the color, and then sprayed the Pam on. The top coat says to apply to dry nails, so that step comes later.
I sprayed the Pam all over my hands, washed the slime off, and the polish was surprisingly dryish. I wouldn't say it was perfectly dry, because you could see a few little fingerprints where I tested the dryness, but the polish didn't smear or smudge. After I dried my hands, I painted the clear top coat which dries pretty fast on it's own, about 10 minutes, and you couldn't see any of the finger prints anymore. I was pretty happy with how well this worked. I might get some help from Christopher next time, because trying to spray my second hand with the first one still covered in Pam was hard, that stuff is slippery.

Not going to lie, it might be time to start getting gel manicures again, that way I only have to brave the nail salon one Saturday a month and I don't have to grease myself up like a muffin tin for a half assed manicure. We'll see, I do prefer to spend my time without pants on and I don't think the nice family that owns my favorite salon would be too pleased if I showed up in a T-shirt and panties.
