We decided to spice things up a little with dinner this weekend. We made mushroom, swiss, and caramelized onion burgers and sweet potato fries.
We mix A-1, black pepper, garlic powder and grated onion into our ground beef for burgers and then sprinkle them with a little salt before grilling them. Then this time I caramelized a handful of sweet onion, sauteed up a couple of mushrooms and we melted some yummy swiss cheese on those bad boys. I like to keep my condiments simple on a mushroom swiss burger, so I just had mayo, and Christopher used mayo and a little Trader Joe's hot sauce.
This was the first time I've ever made sweet potato fries and now that I know how easy it is I'll probably make them once a week. They were so good. I cut two small sweet potatoes into fry sized strips, and then tossed them in olive oil, salt, pepper, a little bit of garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. I baked them at 450 for 35 minutes. I think next time I might bake them a little lower and slower, because some of them got a little more burnt than I would prefer and some were too wiggly. It was so delicious I could eat it again this week, but I'm all out of sweet potatoes.
