Christmas at Walt Disney World

Christmas is a magical time at Disney. We didn't get to spend as much time at the parks and hotels as we had hoped, but every minute we did get to spend experiencing Disney's magical Christmas decor was wonderful.

The Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian Hotel has a giant Christmas tree in the lobby, garlands, and poinsettias everywhere, and most importantly, a gingerbread house that is so big humans sell treats out of it. 

 Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has a lovely tree right when you get to Main St. and all of the shops and second story Main St. windows are decorated with lights and garlands.

Even the Jungle Cruise transforms for Christmas, into the Jingle Cruise.

Magic Kingdom also hosts Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We've never been to the Christmas party, it's a special after regular park hours ticketed event, but I think I might want to go next year. 

Epcot 

Epcot has so many lovely trees and lights, as well as Holidays around the World. Each of the countries in the World Showcase feature their holiday traditions. 

The thing I was most looking forward to at Epcot was the Candlelight Processional, where a famous narrator reads the Christmas story and a mass choir sings Christmas carols. It is an amazing experience and if you've never been I highly recommend it.

During the holidays, Epcot also adds on five extra minutes of fireworks to their already excellent display. Toward the end it looks like the sky is full of glittery confetti, it's amazing.

This year when we got passes we decided to get the silver level pass, which has blackout dates, including the week before and after Christmas. I think that next time we get passes we will pay the extra money to not have blackout dates simply because I love Christmas at Disney so much and it's a perfect time for me to go because I have a break from work. The other blackout dates don't bother me, because let's be honest who wants to go to Disney in June, July, or August? Not me! But I think being able to go and see the fun holiday fireworks, see the decorations, and just being able to feel magical and Christmasy while sweating would be worth it.
