DIY Retirement Sash
This week one of my sweet co-workers is retiring. Last Friday we had an all day celebration complete with a special sash that I made for her to wear, breakfast and lunch potlucks, and lots of presents.
I started with a spool of 4" pink grosgrain ribbon, a pair of pinking sheers, and white iron on vinyl. I used my Cricut to cut out "Ms. Retiree 2017"
Then I carefully ironed the letters on to the ribbon. I tried to make it as straight as possible, but you can see the 2017 was a little lower than the Ms. Retiree part. I don't have a 12X24 Cricut mat so I couldn't cut it in one long piece, I had to separate it.
I decided to use a little velcro dot to close the sash instead of sewing or gluing it. It made it really easy to put on and take off and adjust.
We're really going to miss her, but it has been the best time working with her for so many years and having such a fun day celebrating her service to the college, her students, and all of us!
