12 Days of Holiday Treats Day 11: Melt in Your Mouth Cookies

This was originally posted December 21, 2015. I ran out of time to make cookies before I left for our Christmas trip to Germany. These are a Hofreiter family specialty.

The second cookie recipe Chris requested this year was Melt in Your Mouth Cookies. I had never had these cookies before celebrating Christmas with the Hofreiters, and this was my first time making them. They are very thin, a little chunky and kind of lacy looking, but so melty once you bite into them.

Take them out as they start to brown around the edges, the middles may still look a little gooey, that's alright. Let them cool on the cookie sheet for a minute or two and then transfer to a wire cooling rack.

Don't be fooled, they may look strange, but they are oh so yummy.

See how thin they are. Almost like a delicious cookie cracker.
