12 Days of Holiday Treats Day 5: Rice Krispie Treats 4 Ways

See this content in the original post

I don't know many people that don't love a Rice Krispie Treat. They are easy to make, they don't have any fancy ingredients, they're cheap, everything I look for in a party treat to share with a crowd.

All of these treats are a regular Rice Krispie Treat base and then topped with something delicious.

Start by melting your butter in a giant pot

Add your marshmallows and stir to coat them with all that beautiful melty butter

Slowly your marshmallows will melt to make this delightful goo that smells like the North Pole

Add your cereal, I do mine in halves so that I can work it all in a little easier

Squish your treats into a baking dish

Now, because I want to top some of the treats with melty goodness I needed a barrier system. I used a knife to cut the treats into 4 sections, then I wrapped foil over a piece of cereal box cut to the length I need and jammed the foil into the spaces where I cut the treats.

I like my Rice Krispie treats plain so I left half of them plain , and then the other half I split into thirds to top with my fancy (not really) toppings.

First we have sprinkles, I used red, green, and gold sugar sprinkles.

Then I folded back the foil sides to access the middle third a little easier

I melted some peanut butter, yummm

Poured the peanut butter on the treats and spread it around with a spatula

Then I melted some chocolate chips and poured that on top of the peanut butter and swirled it around. Ooohhhhh pretty.

For the last section I heated up some Nutella

Poured and spread the Nutella around with a spatula

And then popped these babies in the fridge for all the melted toppings to set.

I especially like how the chocolate peanut butter topping turned out. It reminds me of wood grain.

And there we have it, Rice Krispie treats 4 ways.

This is how I would personally rank them: 1. plain, 2. chocolate peanut butter, 3. Nutella, 4. sprinkles.

Sprinkles will always be last for me because I think sprinkles are pretty, but I don't want to eat them.
