The Hofreiters

December in Abingdon 2022

Life in small town Virginia is definitely different from my decades of living in Central Florida, but this town has nailed holiday decorating. I have not been disappointed with the town decor for any of the holidays so far, but Christmas in a small town is just next level special.

Every light post has a big wreath, there are little clusters of decorations on most of the Main St. street corners. The fancy hotel in town has a field of inflatables. The businesses have decked their halls. It’s lovely.

The first Saturday of December is the annual Main Street Parade, which thankfully was streamed on YouTube so you can see the whole thing or part of it, and not my terrible night time pictures.

It’s been getting pretty cold recently, plenty of nights below freezing, so hopefully we will see some snow soon.

Happy decoration season!
