Friday Favorites - August 12, 2022
About a billion years ago I used to post some of my favorite things each Friday, and I’m going to try and bring it back for a bit. I might share physical things, food or recipes, places, activities, who knows. The options are endless.
This week my favorite things are:
Morning coffee on a porch
My parents have a great wrap around porch and taking coffee out there in the morning is such a nice change of pace. In Orlando I drank most of my coffee in the car and then on office days I’d usually have one or two lattes in the office that I got from the drive thru or delivered by UberEats.
Fresh garden produce
My dad planted a spring/summer garden and I’ve been having a lot of fun picking some of the last squash, bel peppers, mini watermelons, and oh so many tomatoes. It’s so much fun that Christopher and I made a DIY compost bin for my dad’s garden. We’re almost like real farmers now. (Hahahahaha, not even close)
My new Able backpack
I have been hauling my everyday wares around in a Longchamp tote bag for years, but I have a hard time keeping things organized without using like 5 pouches, so I decided to try out a backpack. Now if you’ve been around you know I don’t do things half way, so I dove in the deep end and ordered a leather backpack from Able. It has two compartments, one with a laptop sleeve, a water bottle pocket on each side and a front flat zip pocket. So far I have really been enjoying it. I keep my iPad, Bluetooth keyboard, journal, and kindle in the back section. I keep my purse and sometimes my Nintendo Switch in the front compartment, a water bottle in one side, and my phone, AirPods, and charging cables in the front pocket. It’s comfortable to wear and not too heavy or awkward for me as a shorty McShorterson.
My newest plant additions
I went to the local community college late summer plant sale and picked up a new purple oxalis and a pitcher plant. I chatted with one of the greenhouse experts and got some tips for some of my other plants and they even gave me a pot full of their succulent blend soil to try and keep my burrow tail from completely leaving this earth. Fingers crossed.
Dolly Parton License Plate
Tennessee has a Dolly Parton Foundation license plate and now I want to live in TN so I can have it. It supports Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library’s childhood literacy program. I love reading and know how important it is for kids to learn to love reading, so if we end up in Tennessee, this will be going on my car.
