Parisian Style Hot Chocolate
After days of seeing people trying Parisian-style hot chocolate on TikTok, I had to make it. I used this recipe for Chocolat Chaud from Mission Food Adventure.
My grocery store didn’t have any quality chocolate bars in stock, so I used Ghirardelli chocolate chips even though the recipe recommended not using chocolate chips.
I started by heating my milk until steaming, but not boiling. Turned off the heat and added my chocolate chips and whisked until combined. Then I added vanilla, salt, and brown sugar, and simmered until thick and smooth.
I let it stand for a couple of minutes while I made vanilla whipped cream, then filled small coffee mugs about 2/3 full and topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
I served this hot chocolate with a spoon so we could stir in the whipped cream a little and sip it a little bit at a time until it cooled enough to sip from the cup. I wish we had been able to dip a croissant in the hot chocolate, but we don’t have a good bakery nearby and I didn’t think to make homemade ones until it was too late.
This is a decadent treat. Luxuriously thick drinking chocolate topped with a cloud of whipped cream, yes, please!
Have you ever tried Parisian-style hot chocolate or drinking chocolate? What do you think about it?
