DIY: Hallmark Movie Watching Blankets
I have a few women in my life that love Hallmark Christmas Movies, so when I saw a blanket online that said “This is my Hallmark Christmas Movie Watching Blanket” I knew I needed to fire up the Cricut and try to make these for their movie watching marathons.
I used the Cricut Design Space to make the image for the blankets, then cut it out of heat transfer foil vinyl and glitter vinyl. While they were cutting, I flipped through some magazines, like ya do.
I bought the blankets at IKEA, and I was nervous about using iron on vinyl on a polyester blanket, because so far I have only used cotton items for my iron on projects, but it worked out just fine. The only thing I did differently was to trim the clear liner closer to the vinyl so the sticky liner didn’t pull at the blanket fabric as much.
I used a cloth napkin between my design and my iron to keep it nice and safe, and then ironed away.
I ended up making four blankets, some grey stripes and some solid grey. All the blankets are from IEKA and they are all super soft, but also light, because Florida.
I really like how these turned out. I’m almost tempted to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie myself. I am so excited to gift these to some moving lovin’ gals and I really hope they like them!
