Our First Order from Grove Collaborative
I have basically zero desire to start cleaning my house most days. But like any task, I can be bribed by nice smelling products in pretty packaging. So in an effort to bribe myself to clean more often, I joined Grove Collaborative.
Grove Collaborative sells non-toxic, environmentally friendly, sustainable, and cruelty free products, that you can have shipped to your house on a recurring basis so you don’t end up spending more time on the cleaning isle in Target trying to decide what is going to work well, and not slowly kill you, than actually cleaning. Or is that just me? If you want to read more about Grove Collaborative and their products, click here.
This is what was in our first order: Aunt Fannie’s Microcosmic Probiotic-Powered Hand Soap in Soft Mint ($6.28), Aunt Fannie’s Glass & Window Vinegar Wash ($5.99), Aunt Fannie’s Vinegar Wash Floor Cleaner in Bright Lemon ($6.99), Aunt Fannie’s Microcosmic Probiotic-Powered Multi-Surface Cleaner x2 in Lavender and Mandarin Grove ($6.28) Grove Collaborative Laundry Starter Set (detergent + dispenser) in Lavender & Rosemary $24.95, Plus the following free items: Welcome gift of Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap, Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap, Mrs. Meyer’s Multi Surface Cleaner, and Grove Collaborative Cleaning Caddy, Freebies with purchase: Grove Collaborative Walnut Scrubber Sponge, set of 2, Grove Collaborative Modern Stoneware Tray, Grove Collaborative Hand Cream in Bergamot Orange.
I already knew I liked the Mrs. Meyer’s brand so I was pretty excited about getting three of their products for free, and I had read a little about Aunt Fannie’s on a blog I read, so I ordered a decent selection of their products (hand soap, multi-surface cleaner, window cleaner, floor cleaner). I also was really interested in the laundry detergent dispenser by Grove Collaborative so I got that to try out, and of course I didn’t say no to any freebies, and I actually really like the stoneware tray.
We had a note from John, our Grove Collaborative human, which I thought was a nice touch. I have also gotten a couple of emails and a text message from John about my first order and February subscription items. I appreciate that I was reminded of the subscription items, so I could go in a make adjustments to the February order. I definitely won’t need any more multi-surface cleaners (I got 3 in this order) and probably won’t need more hand soap, so I added a few other things I wan to try and a second scent of the laundry detergent, because I like the Lavender and Rosemary , but I also like options.
I’m not new to natural cleaning products, but I also haven’t done a ton of research. I have relied on recommendations and leaping bunny certifications. After hearing about Aunt Fannie’s, I read more about their products and they eliminate more things that I even knew to look for, so I am very excited to try these products.
From Aunt Fannie’s website, their products are free from:
dyes • cleaning sulfates • phthalates • parabens • gluten • known allergens • immunotoxins • mineral oil • bleach • ammonia • formaldehyde • phenols • fake fragrances • MIT preservatives • BIT preservatives • pyrethrins • alcohol • petroleum propellants • neonicotinoids
Honestly, what the fuck are some of those things?
So far I have used the Multi-Surface spray in my kitchen and the glass cleaner in the bathroom and I don’t have any complaints. Christopher actually said that this glass cleaner is the only natural glass cleaner he’s ever used to be in the same streak free league as Windex, which is a huge compliment because Christopher is a big Windex fan.
This laundry detergent dispenser portions the detergent for you, like magic. You just pour it in and it reloads the next portion in the cap.
I haven’t decided how I am going to use the stone tray, but it has room for dish soap and a sponge or hand soap and hand cream, or you could use it got keys, as a drop spot on your dresser, basically anything.
So far (an entire week) I have been really impressed with the products I’ve tried and the level of service I have received from Grove Collaborative. I’'ll keep you posted on my thoughts after I get my February order and use the products a little longer.
If you are interested in trying Grove Collaborative you can use my referral link for a free 5-piece gift set with your first purchase. This is not an ad (because I’m not fancy and nobody asked for this review), but I do get referral credit if you use my link.
