Washington County Fair 2023
This was our second year going to the Washington County Fair, and this year we convinced my brother to come along.
We live about six minutes from the fairground so attending the county fair is a breeze. This year we went on opening night and got to the fair a little before 7:00 PM. Our first stop of the fair was the agriculture and performance building. We got to see the biggest and/or nicest fruits, vegetables, plants, and snacks.
We got to see a little tap dancing and some beautiful pageant gowns. Then it was time for a snack.
Our first snack stop of the night was lemonade and spiral taters. Spiral taters were a new snack for us, potato spirals a little thicker than a potato chip but not quite a fry, deep fried. We salted and ketchuped ours.
Fueled by potatoes, we headed over to the show barn and watched kids show pigs. It. was. amazing. The pigs kept running around the ring, and watching kids run after pigs three times their size was priceless.
When the pigs were all shown, we made our way to the little petting zoo. I think it was smaller than last year, which was a bummer.
Our second snack stop was funnel cake.
We capped off the night walking through the fair rides that we all took a hard pass on.
We left during the concert portion of the evening. We didn’t know the artist and we were kind of meh on the music, I need to remember to look up the musicians before the fair next year and see if I feel a particular interest in any of them.
The parking situation at the fair is hilarious to me. We parked at the bottom of a huge ditch/valley and the slippery, muddy, long grassed hike in and out was comical.
It’s a small fair, but always a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
