Hey there!

We are Natalie and Christopher. We blog about life in the suburbs of Orlando, FL with no kids and one dog. Thanks for checking in.

Quarantine Weekend Two

Quarantine Weekend Two

As we get ready for our third weekend in quarantine, I thought I’d share what we did last weekend. Get ready, we got wild, like for real.

We started the weekend with a Friday night car date. We ordered Five Guys online, picked it up, and ate in the parking lot. It was pretty exciting to get out and see a little scenery beyond our yard.

After our fancy date, we got the hammock out and cuddle up under the evening sky, until the mosquitoes found me. Then we decided to clean off the hammock and bring inside, becasue why the hell not? The world is upside down, might as well bring the outside in.

Saturday was the day we got wild. We went to the Wild Florida Drive-Thru Safari. It was pretty dang awesome. Understandably they were PACKED. It’s literally one of the only things you can do while still social distancing, so the line of car to get in was over a mile long, we waited about an hour and a half to get in. Once we were in, we slowly drove around the 2 mile loop watching animals run around and play. They even fed them while we were there so they came out to get the food that was close to the road and we got a really good look at a few cool animals. Because they wander freely, they walk between the cars and get really close to you. You’re not allowed to pet them, but they are definitely close enough to touch. Resist the urge. It took about two hours to get through the safari, there was a lot of being parked because of the volume of people, but it was a really nice two hours. If you are in the Orlando area, I highly recommend checking this place out. I want to go back when we are allowed to feed the Giraffes, because I love them so much.

After we finished the Safari, we needed gas, so we headed to 7-11, filled up the tank, and went through the car wash. Another good social distancing activity, plus then your car is clean. Win, win.

Sunday, I needed to go to Publix and pick up my prescriptions and get a few groceries, and on the way there we ended up accidentally joining the local elementary school’s teacher parade. We were just driving behind the police officer that was at the end of the parade and figured if people are already waving, we might as well wave back, and I think the officer thought maybe we were part of the parade but got separated or something, so she pulled over and waved us in. It was hilarious, and probably the best accident to ever happen to us. We’re like really famous now.

The rest of Sunday we cuddled up with Lucy, watched Netflix like everyone else, and reminded ourselves how immeasurably lucky we are right now.

Stay safe.
