Four Hours in Greenville, SC
On our way to Florida we stopped in Greenville, SC for a few hours to see downtown, get some lunch, and liked it so much that on the drive back we stopped again for dinner and a trip to Trader Joe’s.
Greenville has joined our list of cities we could live in. It has a decent airport, Trader Joe’s, Jeremiah’s, an adorable downtown, a busy events center, including touring broadway shows and musical performances. It seems to have plenty of local food, shopping, and most importantly, coffee. It’s only three hours south of my parent’s and seven and a half hours from our family in Florida. I love that there was so much art around town.
One of the main downtown attractions is Falls Park on the Reedy, which is where the Reedy River flows through downtown Greenville. The park is really nice with lots of places to sit and watch the waterfall or have a picnick. We saw people there taking family photos, I think someone getting ready to propose (they had a giant diamond ring balloon), and lots of people in town for college football. We found a cool swing to sit on while we watched some Canadian Geese splash around in the river, and of course did a little people watching.
We got coffee at Spill the Beans downtown, and it had a pretty cool vibe and nice views of the park.
For lunch we went to The Commons, a food hall just outside of downtown on the Reedy River.
Christopher ordered a grilled steak taco and a side of Mexican street corn from Autoamtic Taco and I had the Chicken sando with fries, plus a bowl of mac & cheese from Golden Brown & Delicious (GB&D). I forgot to take a picture of Christopher’s food, but everything we had was really nice. I would 100% order the chicken sando and mac & cheese again.
Knowing we had seven and a half hours of driving left, we got coffee before gtting back on the road. We each got an oatmilk latte from Methodical Coffee.
We hope to be able to go back soon to check it out in a little more depth, but so far we like what we’ve seen. Do you have any Greenville tips or favorites? Leave ‘em in the comments.
