The Great Escape: Our Temporary Home Tour
While we look for a new house in a new town, we are staying with my parents. I have called their guest room “my room” since the day they moved in, so we are staying in my room, and my mom has graciously lent her craft room to Christopher to use as a work space, and as I’ve mentioned before, I am taking up most of the wrap around porch with my plant collection.
This is our room, stuffed with all the things we thought we MIGHT need while we are living here. Spoiler alert we aren’t going to need all of it. I was washing the bedding when I took these pictures and I couldn’t be bothered to wait until they were clean.
As you can see we brought a set of cubbies with clothes, and a clothes rack of clothes, in addition to the bedroom closet and dresser that are already in the room. We also brought a mini fridge for drinks and snacks, a keurig, and of course Christopher has a guitar and I brought a bin of assorted cards, notebooks, and stickers. Maybe one day we will get it a little better organized, but we’re making it work for now. At least we moved the cubbies to the wall instead of their original home in the middle of the walkway.
Next is Christopher’s temporary office in my mom’s craft room. He’s got his work stuff and views of either the side yard trees and birds or the neighbor’s yard behind my parent’s house. Top floor, very fancy.
The plant porch!! I have so many houseplants that I am currently taking up almost the entire wrap around porch rail. Plus, I bought two more since I’ve been here. Bring me alllll the plants!
Dad’s garden, that produced so many cucumbers, squash, bell peppers, and cabbage, and is still full of beefsteak, Roma, and cherry tomatoes, and mini watermelons. It’s been fun poking around in there and pretending like I helped.
This is the family room where we hang out, watch tv, and look at houses online
So far we are mostly having fun, but I am very anxious to find a house and feel more like we are making progress. It’s hard not to feel stuck and like you’ve done something stupid when you move in to your parent’s house on the precipice of 40.
I still think exploding our life was the right choice, but just because it’s right, doesn’t mean it’s not hard and scary and horrible in the middle.
