Sep 1 Summer Bucket List Recap 2023

I enjoy having a seasonal bucket list. It reminds me to squeeze in as much fun as possible. This summer I wanted to float in a pool, watch fireworks, go to the farmer’s market, see a baseball game, go to a festival, explore a new town, and go on a boat.

I was able to complete most of the items on my summer bucket list, except I am kind of cheating on the boat ride. We didn’t go on like a boat boat, but we did ride some boat rides at DIsneyland.. sooo, I’m counting it.

We spent a couple of weeks in Florida this summer, so we got to float a little. I ended up having to have two skin biopsies so that cut into my pool time, but I got in as much as I could. We even got in a few swims with the nieces, and a family swim with my parents.

We tried to watch a 4th of July fireworks show from a parking lot near a show, but we could only see the top half, oops. But then we went to Disneyland and saw their fireworks show and a fireworks show after the Iowa Cubs baseball game. I love fireworks, and I was extra pumped I got to see so many.

I went to the Tuesday afternoon farmer’s market a couple of times, but I didn’t get anything either time, so I went, but Saturday would have been better. I just don’t like mornings.

We were planning to go to an Appalachian League baseball game, but our travel schedule didn’t leave a lot of time in Abingdon. We got lucky on our trip to Iowa and the Iowa cubs minor league team was in town and we got to see them play the Louisville Bats. It was a really beautiful night for a baseball game, the nachos were tasty, and there was a fireworks show at the end. Big win!

When I made my summer bucket list we hadn’t booked our state fair trip, so I was imagining going to a small town summer festival, but we went BIG. We went to both the Iowa and Minnesota State Fairs. This was our first time going to any state fair, and the midwest fairs hard. These were giant festivals, so quadruple check.
