Take Yourself on a Valentine's Day Date
Go to Lunch
I like eating alone. I usually read while I eat alone, but you could also listen to a podcast or music, doodle, or literally stare at the wall. It’s nice to go somewhere you like, get your favorite thing, and just enjoy time with yourself.
Get a Coffee and Relax
In case you are new here, I love coffee. I want to go to a coffee shop every single day of my life. I usually go to coffee shops to write or work, so I have to remind myself that I can go there and just drink coffee. I highly recommend finding a cozy local coffee shop, getting a nice drink, maybe a treat, and don’t work. If you are restless like me and have a hard time just sitting you can, read, listen to something, journal, or people-watch. You can also just enjoy your drink without doing anything else.
Take a Walk Somewhere Scenic
We live in a small historic town right now, so Main St. has tons of interesting old buildings and signs with information about things that happened here before America was a country, parks, stores, etc. We also surprisingly have a small park with a labyrinth you can walk around, which I like to do. Find somewhere near you that has interesting or pretty things to look at while you walk around.
Go Somewhere Busy to People-Watch
People-watching is one of my favorite things to do in life. I love making up stories about the people I see out in public. I imagine what they are doing next, or where they came from. In my opinion, the best people-watching is transportation-related, like airports, the bus or subway, and people driving by on the phone or singing along to music. I also enjoy shopping areas and restaurants, so you could absolutely pair this with getting coffee or going out to lunch if you want a 2-for-1 deal.
Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love and self-love is incredibly important. Make sure you don’t forget to show yourself a little lovin’ this month.
