Small Chocolate Cake
Baking can be hard when you’re a family of two. Most recipes make enough to serve several people, and I’m not about to host a damn dinner party just because I want one piece of chocolate cake.
I want to try making more small batch baking recipes this year, and the first one I tried was this Small Chocolate Cake by Bunny’s Warm Oven.
It makes a 9x9 cake so you could serve it at a small dinner party, but we aren’t planning to share. All of the ingredients are pretty standard baking supplies, I had everything on hand. No need to make your own buttermilk or search for special crap in the baking section at the grocery store, or other nonsense like that.
I love this cake! I was worried because the batter is thin and runny, but it’s bakes up springy and light with a velvety chocolate flavor. The chocolate frosting is rich and I would probably use less of it next time, but I am not a huge fronting gal, I’m here for the cake. I served my pieces upside down and just left some of the frosting behind for my perfect cake to frosting ratio.
If you’re looking for a small chocolate cake for date night, a small get together, or just because, this is a good one. Leave your favorite small batch baking recipes in the comments, I’d love to give them a try.
