Day 1: January 23, 2010
Over the last 14.5 years, Lucy has been a constant companion. She smiled and licked her way into the hearts of our family and friends and came on countless adventures with us.
This year we took Lucy to see the Gulf of Mexico, celebrated Lucy’s Sweet Sixteen, took her to meet my brother’s chickens, went to see the solar eclipse, took her to see the Atlantic Ocean in Outer Banks, NC, and made some beautiful art.
Over the years, Lucy visited eight states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. She got to see the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, stayed 100+ nights in hotels, and mastered the elevator with grace.
She loved treats, car rides, sitting in a chair at the dinner table like a human, sleeping between us in bed, and chasing lizards. She was so soft and sweet and always knew when I needed a snuggle.
Lucy was the love of my life, my soul dog, and life without her doesn’t feel possible.
We are going to miss this dog so deeply.
